The UFC is making an excellent late addition to the UFC on Versus 3 card, as MMAJunkie.com reports that welterweights Johny Hendricks and Paulo Thiago will now meet on the night's card.
Both fighters are looking to bounce back from losses on the card, which takes place from Louisville's KFC Yum! Center on March 3.
Thiago has dropped back to back fights to the night's two headliners. After what, at the time, was a bit of a surprising loss to Martin Kampmann after a 3-1 start in the organization, Thiago was then upset by Diego Sanchez in the "Fight of the Night" at UFC 121 last October.
Hendricks suffered his first career loss in December, dropping a disappointing decision to Rick Story at The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale. The loss put an end to his undefeated streak, which he had run to nine straight fights to begin his career. That included four fights in the UFC, and an extra two fights under the Zuffa banner in the WEC.
Penick's Analysis: I'd think this one would make the televised broadcast, but until it's officially announced it still could be a part of the prelims with Thiago coming off two straight losses. This is an excellent fight, though. Thiago is desperate for a win, Hendricks wants to make up for a disappointing performance against Story and both are typically in exciting fights. This is just a great fight, so hopefully it makes the night's main card.
