Another solid light heavyweight bout is reportedly coming to the UFC 127 card in Australia, as MMANews.se reports that New Zealand native James Te Huna will fight for his second time in the UFC against Alexander Gustafsson.
Te Huna fought on the UFC's first event in Australia at last February's UFC 110, where he defeated Saturday's TUF 12 Finale headliner Igor Pokrajac by TKO in the third round. He was set to return at UFC 120 in London in October, but an injury forced him off the card.
Gustafsson will make his fourth appearance in the Octagon, riding high after a submission victory over Cyrille Diabate at UFC 120. That win was a bounce back from his first career loss to Phil Davis by anaconda choke at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi.
UFC 127 airs live in North America on pay-per-view on Saturday, February 26, though the event takes place in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, February 27 with the time difference. The card will be headlined by a welterweight bout between B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch.
Penick's Analysis: This is a good fight, and this card continues to fill up with really good match-ups for the fans in Australia. Gustafsson looked very good against Diabate, and though Te Huna hasn't fought in a year because of injury he had a stoppage win in his one UFC fight, and he's stopped fighters in 11 of his wins. This could be a very exciting fight, for sure.
