Dana White was on ESPN Radio last night for the ESPN Radio 1100 Radiothon and in addition to discussing the possibility of Tito Ortiz coming back to the Octagon and wanting to get Fedor into the UFC for the fans, he dropped another little tidbit on the success of UFC 100.
Before the event, in a question asked about whether he thought it would do 1.5 million pay-per-view buys, White said if it did he would base jump off the 39-story Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas.
While talking on ESPN Radio 1100, White said that he would indeed be base jumping off the hotel, meaning the event reached that milestone at the least. While we may never get a true number for the buys on that event, even sitting at 1.5 million puts it among the top five pay-per-view events ever.
Penick's Analysis: It's a massive testament to the level the UFC has reached. Though maybe not a mainstream sport at this point in time, it is indisputably the pay-per-view king; and with many more big fights coming our way, along with the possibility of a new influx of talent acquired with the Affliction collapse, the UFC isn't slowing down anytime soon.
