"The past is the past. I don't want to get too much into that, but at the end of the day I wanted everyone to know I'm not a liar. Unfortunately it didn't come off that way, but I've always told the truth. I've never used any sort of PEDs of any sort, and I'm excited to get back in there to fight, and who knows, even fight for a title."
-Anderson Silva maintains his innocence regarding PEDs after his 2015 suspension for drostanolone during a media day this week for UFC Fight Night 84 (via BloodyElbow.com).
Penick's Analysis: Him saying it doesn't make it true, as it being in his system multiple times last January by definition means he used a PED. Whether or not it was done knowingly is irrelevant to that very fact, and at best he - an elite competitor and former longtime champion - took a substance without knowing what was in it. That's still all on him, no matter what else he'd like to argue at this point.
