An injury to Frank Trevino has opened a spot for UFC newcomer Frankie Perez next month at UFC Fight Night 59 in Boston.
The UFC announced on Tuesday that Perez will replace Trevino against Johnny Case on the January 18 card, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
Perez, competing out of New Jersey, has spent most of his career in the Ring of Combat organization in that region, though he picked up a win under the World Series of Fighting banner in his last outing. At 9-1, his sole loss came by split decision, while he's stopped six opponents in those nine wins.
"Hollywood" Case made an impressive UFC debut in his last fight, earning his ninth straight win when he choked out Kazuki Tokudome in Japan at UFC Fight Night 52.
The UFC Fight Night 59 event will be headlined by a featherweight bout between Conor McGregor and Dennis Siver.
