An unfortunate injury to Aljamain Sterling has brought a change to one of the more intriguing fights for the UFC Fight Night 54 event from Halifax on Oct. 4.
The UFC announced on Tuesday that Rob Font has stepped in to replace Sterling against Mitch Gagnon on the card, which is set to air live on Fox Sports 1.
The 27-year-old Font made a successful UFC debut in July at UFC 175, knocking out George Roop in the first round. The win was his 10th straight, and seventh stoppage victory as well, bringing him to an 11-1 overall record.
Canada's Gagnon has done quite well for himself since suffering a loss to Bryan Caraway in his UFC debut. He's won three straight fights, with his most recent win coming by decision against Tim Gorman in April.
The UFC Fight Night 54 event will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine.
