Several fighters have gotten the axe from the UFC this week following recent losses inside the Octagon, as the profiles of Vinny Magalhaes, Dave Herman, Bristol Marunde, John Maguire, and Ednaldo Oliveira have all been removed from the UFC.com active roster. Though an official announcement on their releases hasn't been made, the removal from the active roster points online denotes those releases.
Magalhaes returned to the UFC last year after a contentious split from M-1 Global, and scored a win in his return over Igor Pokrajac. However, he talked his way into a fight with Phil Davis that he lost in one-sided fashion, and he was taken out by Anthony Perosh in 14 seconds in his last outing. He left his gloves in the cage, and said he'd likely retire if released from the UFC. That release has come, so that likely means his end.
Herman received a number of opportunities in the organization after securing a win in his debut in 2011, but he lost four straight fights following that, failing drug tests int two of them.
Both Marunde and Oliveira lost both of their appearances inside the Octagon, with Marunde suffering TKO losses in consecutive fights and Oliveira getting submitted by Gabriel Gonzaga before losing a decision to UFC newcomer Francimar Barroso at UFC 163.
Maguire started off his UFC run with consecutive wins, including a slick step-over armbar against DaMarques Johnson. However, he lost three straight fights after that, all by decision in less than stellar fights.
