An exciting bantamweight matchup is headed to the UFC 165 event in Toronto, as Ivan Menjivar will take on Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto on Sept. 21. The bout was first reported by TVA Sports journalist Nancy Audet on Twitter.
Menjivar returns to action in his first bout since a decisive loss to Urijah Faber in February at UFC 157. Menjivar was submitted by Faber in the first round, his second loss in three fights, and hopes to get back to what he was doing during a three fight winning streak in 2011 and 2012.
Yamamoto returns to the cage for the first time in a year and a half, having last competed in his home country of Japan at UFC 144 last February. Yamamoto was submitted by Vaughan Lee in a shocking result on that card, and has lost all three of his fights thus far in the UFC.
UFC 165 heads to Toronto's Air Canada Center one year after visiting the city for UFC 152. Last year's event was headlined by Jon Jones' fourth round submission win over Vitor Belfort, and Jones will return to headline this event against Alexander Gustafsson.
