With the announcement that season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter will take place on Fox Sports 1, the most recent season served as the last of three on FX. It was also by far the most successful of those three from a ratings standpoint, and was capped off by one of the strongest live broadcasts the UFC's had on the network as well.
Saturday's Finale event from Las Vegas drew a 1.2 rating and an average of 1,710,000 viewers to the network, a number for the UFC on FX bested only by January's UFC on FX 7 card from Brazil. That event, headlined by the Michael Bisping-Vitor Belfort bout, drew 1,860,000 viewers.
The 12 episodes of the show leading up to the finale, which aired on Tuesday nights from January to last Tuesday, averaged 1.32 million for the season, up significantly from the 16th season last fall.
The Finale event in Las Vegas was headlined by the Urijah Faber vs. Scott Jorgensen bout, and also featured the second-ever women's bout in UFC history between Cat Zingano and Miesha Tate. Additionally, the season 17 winner was crowned when Kelvin Gastelum defeated his Team Sonnen teammate Uriah Hall by split decision.
