Following a knockout loss to Yves Edwards, Jeremy Stephens will attempt to keep himself on the UFC's roster as he drops to featherweight for the first time. The UFC announced on Wednesday morning that Stephens will take on Estevan Payan at UFC 160.
For the first time in his career, Stephens has lost three straight fights, with the Edwards KO following losses to Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis. That prompted the move to 145 lbs., and it also comes amidst his current legal troubles, stemming from an alleged assault in Iowa.
The 14-3 Payan comes over to the UFC after a two-fight stint in Strikeforce. The 14-3 fighter also drops to featherweight, and hopes to extend an eight-fight unbeaten streak. In his most recent outing, he stopped Mike Bravo on the undercard of the final Strikeforce event in January.
UFC 160 takes place on May 25, and will be headlined by the Heavyweight Championship bout between Cain Velasquez and Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva.
