Longtime middleweight Patrick Cote is dropping to the welterweight division, and he'll welcome a fighter from the Strikeforce roster at UFC 158 in Montreal.
The UFC announced on Friday that Cote will take on Bobby Voelker at UFC 158 in Montreal this March.
Voelker is the third Strikeforce fighter (outside of the women's division) to be brought over to the UFC with the impending end of their sister organization next month, following Derek Brunson and Robbie Lawler into the Octagon. He's won three straight fights, two in a row against Roger Bowling, and he'll try to take out a veteran in his UFC debut.
Cote, the one-time title challenger at middleweight, returned to the UFC in July, losing a decision to Cung Le. He's making the drop after a disqualification win in his last fight, which came when Alessio Sakara knocked him out with a series of strikes to the back of the head.
