"I kind of had a feeling that he was going to call me out [at UFC on Fox 5]... I think the whole thing was pretty, I don't know, the tone of it made it seem like I had wronged him. Like I did something wrong. I was just doing what the hell I'm supposed to do... I think it's probably the way that he lost. He was undefeated at that point. He was the man, the next big thing. I think he thinks it's his destiny to be the champion, and I went in there and smashed that dream. So I can see it. But it's a little bit odd, I think."
-Carlos Condit talks to MMAJunkie.com about Rory MacDonald's call out at UFC on Fox 5 and his reaction to it before accepting a second fight with him at UFC 158.
Penick's Analysis: In MacDonald's mind, what Condit did to him at UFC 115 in 2010 was humiliating and embarrassing. He hasn't been able to get past it, and that clearly came off in the weeks leading into the B.J. Penn fight and then in the call out right after. Condit's going to have to enter Montreal to smash MacDonald's dream once more, and while he understands the desire to avenge a loss, here he's thinking that perhaps the young welterweight is taking things a little too personally on that end. Still, every fighter has to find something within him to go step into the cage time and time again, and the motivations aren't always the same. MacDonald's is clear heading into March, and now Condit's fully aware of that.
