Johny Hendricks wants to fight for the UFC Welterweight Championship, and he made an emphatic statement in support of that on Saturday night at UFC 154.
Less than a year after knocking out Jon Fitch in just 12 seconds, Hendricks took out another contender in slightly more time, knocking out Martin Kampmann with a two-punch combination in just 46 seconds.
Hendricks came out throwing bombs, barely missing a couple of big strikes in the first few seconds of the fight. Then, he pawed out a jab with the right, and knocked Kampmann down with a huge straight left to the jaw. A follow up strike on the ground put him out, and Hendricks earned the knockout win.
The loss was the first for Kampmann since a controversial decision loss to Diego Sanchez last year, and it was just the second stoppage loss he's suffered in the welterweight division. For Hendricks, the win was his fifth straight, and ninth in ten appearances in the UFC.
