"I'm not disappointed I didn't get the Dan Henderson fight. But I think that's a fight that's inevitable. Everybody wants to see it. Dan Henderson is undoubtably one of the best fighters in MMA history, and it will happen. Hopefully I'll fight Chael and then defeat Chael and then defeat Dan Henderson... I think [Alexander Gustafsson's] great. I can't wait to fight him. A lot of people say the reason why I win is because I have long arms. When I fight Gustafsson, that will be behind me. So I can't wait to prove all the critics wrong."
-UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones addresses two of his potential title challengers in the division during a fan chat for Metro PCS on Tuesday (transcribed by MMAJunkie.com).
Penick's Analysis: If Henderson gets past Lyoto Machida in a fight that is expected to happen, he'll be the next in line to fight Jones after Sonnen. If Gustafsson defeats Shogun Rua and then wins one more fight in 2013 at some point, he'll be the next fighter after Henderson. Those are the two fighters most likely to be in line, so Jones will more than likely get his chance to defeat the remaining top fighters in the division by the end of next year. After that, Glover Teixeira could be in line, and if Jones defeated him he'd be able to move on to heavyweight without any loose ends in the division. It's certainly not a given, and they all represent significant challenges, but Jones has been incredible thus far, and to defeat those names in succession would be incredible.
