"It's really been an emotional roller coaster this past month. I'm just kind of taking it as it goes. I'm pretty bummed right now. I was actually working out. My workout got interrupted with the news. It was the fight I was really, really excited for. I don't know. I'm going to wait and talk to Dana and see what he's thinking and then come up with the next move. I really can't say what's going to happen until Dana and I speak. I kind of made my mind up that 145 would be my next fight before I had this fight with Aldo. So I'm still pretty set on 145 as of right now."
-Frankie Edgar talks to ESPN.com about his mindset in the wake of Jose Aldo's injury and the loss of his UFC 153 title bout.
Penick's Analysis: As we've laid out in a couple of spots, Edgar's got plenty of options at featherweight, but they just don't make sense for UFC 153. The UFC's best bet is to pull him from this card, and depending on how long Aldo will be out just keep him sidelined until that fight or plug him into another event. There's no need to rush his featherweight debut when the title's not on the line, and keeping him in Brazil doesn't necessarily do anything for that event when he's not facing the Brazilian champ. It's a really unfortunate spot for him to be in, but there isn't anything that he can do but move forward to the next challenge.
