"I guess you can be more like 6 years fighting. I love what I do, the team that works with me does a fantastic job, [I've] never had a serious injury that myself away from competition. So I think I have this little while longer."
-UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva tells Brazilian newspaper Estadao how long he plans on continuing in MMA.
Penick's Analysis: Anderson Silva's future in the sport has been a topic of conversation off and on for a few years. He's changed his mind at least a couple of times on the topic of his longevity and future, with both he and manager Ed Soares saying different things at different times about how long he's got left. But six more years of Anderson Silva could be fantastic news for the UFC, as he's still got a number of interesting fights on the horizon in both his division and elsewhere. If he sticks around long enough to get in all those fights, and remains as successful as he's been inside the Octagon, he'll continue to build on the legacy he's already cemented as one of the very best fighters in the history of the sport.
