When Court McGee and Nick Ring met in The Ultimate Fighter's eleventh season, McGee lost a decision in which he felt he should have received a third round. In their rematch at UFC 149 on Saturday night, McGee was again on the wrong end of the judges scorecards, with Ring taking a hometown unanimous decision two rounds to one across the board.
McGee was the aggressor throughout the fight, especially down the stretch, and looked to have secured at least the second and third rounds. The judges saw differently, however, and he walked out of Calgary with his second straight loss in the UFC.
While that fight went the distance, three finishes rounded out the night's FX broadcast, with Francisco Rivera knocking out Roland Delorme, Ryan Jimmo doing the same in quicker fashion to Anthony Perosh, and Bryan Caraway submitting Mitch Gagnon.
Rivera's stoppage of Delorme came in the final minute of the first round, a round which was essentially all Rivera's. Delorme was nowhere near the level of striker Rivera was, and he found himself getting tagged every time he tried to close the distance. He was also getting cracked with leg kicks throughout, before finally getting dropped by a short left hook as he rushed in. A couple more strikes on the ground put an end to his night, and his UFC winning streak.
Jimmo's finish took just seven seconds, tying the UFC's knockout record, and doing it with essentially the first punch thrown in the fight. Caraway's win required a lot more effort, as well as perseverance. He was getting cracked in the first and second rounds by big combinations from Gagnon, as well as some brutal ground and pound in spots. However, he survived all of it, then took advantage of a gassed out Gagnon in the third, eventually locking up a rear naked choke for the win.
