Appearing in a Binghamton, New York court on Tuesday, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones plead guilty to one misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, according to a report from PressConnects.com.
The charge stems from his May 19 arrest, which came in the early morning hours of that Saturday morning when he crashed his Bentley into a pole. There was a secondary charge of making an improper turn that was dismissed during Tuesday's hearing.
According to the report, Binghamton City Court Judge Daniel L. Seiden suspended Jones' license immediately, and told him he'll need to undergo an alcohol abuse and dependency evaluation.
Jones will appear in court again on June 19. The maximum sentence for a DWI conviction in New York is up to one year in jail and a maximum $1,000 fine.
Penick's Analysis: The guilty plea likely comes about with a plea bargain on his sentence, and Jones almost assuredly will not actually face jail time. He'll have some sort of fine to pay, and will have some other conditions to his ultimate sentence, but jail time more than likely not be a part of it.
