The UFC would like to make Mauricio "Shogun" Rua the next - and final - UFC opponent for Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, but Jackson is not likely to be the next opponent for "Shogun."
Just days after UFC President Dana White and UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta spoke of that fight, Jackson says it can't happen anytime soon.
"[To] keep it real, the Shogun fight will have [to] wait," Rampage wrote on Twitter Thursday afternoon. "I just found out that I have [to] get surgery on both knees, but I heal fast don't trip."
With "Shogun" preparing to return by June or July, it's highly unlikely Jackson will be anywhere near ready to be his opponent.
Penick's Analysis: Well, the fight won't happen in Brazil this June, that's for sure. I also don't think "Shogun" is going to sit on the sidelines and wait for Jackson, as there are other, more sensible fights for him in the light heavyweight division right now. I'm not sure who they'll put him in with yet, but I'm sure we'll see him fight someone else well before Rampage returns.
