Miguel Torres' release from the UFC came to light last month in surprising fashion, catching everyone off guard as he revealed that he signed with Titan Fighting Championships for a November event.
However, he'll no longer be fighting on that event, and instead he'll compete in the first event of the brand new World Series of Fighting organization. That debut event will come on November 3 from the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
The WSOF was recently granted its promoter's license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, and it according to multiple published reports it is expected to have a television deal with NBC Sports Network, formerly known as Versus.
Torres does not have an opponent signed for the event as of yet, but several announcements are set to be made by the organization this week.
Penick's Analysis: With the WSOF heading to NBC Sports Network, Torres makes a lot of sense as a flagship name for their first event. He was featured time and again on Versus as the WEC Bantamweight Champion, so he's a well known face to that network, and for MMA fans in general. Regardless of who he's matched up against, he serves as a recognizable first name for the card, and whether he headlines or not he's a good addition to their first event.
