Following a highly impressive first round knockout of Renato "Babalu" Sobral, Dan Henderson is now likely to get the first crack at new Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante.
That's the word from ESPN's Josh Gross, who reports that Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker will be offering the Champ a fight against Henderson in March of 2011.
Cavalcante captured the title with a TKO win over Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal in August, but he's been out of action since then. Henderson's win on Saturday was a rebound victory after a five round decision loss to Jake Shields in April in the middleweight division.
Penick's Analysis: This is the right move for Strikeforce. Henderson commands a lot of money with the contract he signed with the organization, and after last night's win he makes a lot of sense as the next challenger even without the money factor involved. Henderson-Feijao will be one of the better title fights Strikeforce has had, and it will make for a very good headlining fight in March.
