"I needed to show the UFC that I'm here. I needed to show that I'm one of the best in the flyweight division... I believe it's time, but it's up to the UFC to decide if I'm going to fight Demetrious or not. I'm coming off three straight wins, I'm the No. 3 in the division, and you can be sure that I will show my work against Demetrious Johnson... Every fighter has its flaws. He's a great champion, has a great timing standing, a good wrestling, and is evolving a lot on the ground, but it's fifty fifty. I don't underestimate anyone, but I can do a great fight with him in the future."
-Jussier Formiga makes his case for a shot at the UFC Flyweight Championship following his win at UFC Fight Night 67 (via MMAFighting.com).
Penick's Analysis: Formiga's on a solid run, but I can't say his winning streak makes him any more appealing a title challenger than John Dodson or Joseph Benavidez. He's been on a very good run, but he hasn't had the most thrilling victories, and even with his wins hasn't shown himself to have a skillset which challenges the Champion at this point. Formiga may eventually deserve a shot, but I doubt it's coming next for him.
