Rogan critical of Jon Jones

Joe Rogan was very critical of Jon Jones after the news broke of Jones’ potential USADA violation. On a recent episode of his Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan had this to say, “Jon Jones, with this, becomes the number one f***up of all time, for sure, if he wasn’t already. This is the biggest one ever. We can only hope and pray that somehow or another there’s some mistake.”

Rogan went on to say, “Here’s the thing, we don’t know what was really going on now [with Jones]. Now I think we are allowed to have complete, open speculation with zero concern for being respectful. After the dick pill thing you gotta go, ‘Look man, the dude was partying, he was taking some dick pills.’ Coke, I don’t give a f*** about coke. That’s not helping you. Then you hear about this and you go, ‘Wait a minute, what is this?’ I want to know what this is.”

“This is a weird one because if he was taking what you describe as some short-acting, quick-leaving your system steroid that makes you aggressive, you have to ask how long was he doing this for? Was he doing this during training? Did this amp him up? Did this help his work rate? Did this make him more aggressive and more confident in training. Did it add to his confidence when he was fighting? What is this? We don’t know.”

Derrick Lewis comes to the rescue

Derrick Lewis is doing what he can to help those in need during the crisis in Houston due to Hurricane Harvey. In an interview with ESPN, Lewis talked about getting involved, “First of all, me and my wife was watching the news and we heard that the officers are not going to be going out. The only way that they’re going to be going out is life or death situations,” Lewis said, “I seen that and I really didn’t like that so I went out and tried to help as many people as I can.”

Lewis estimates he’s helped over 100 people so far and he isn’t done yet, “Last night, we heard that Beaumont got hit pretty bad too,” Lewis said. “They’re a few miles away from Houston and a couple of buddies of mine, right now we are cooking, we barbecuing, and getting everything prepared to head out that way.”

Jose Aldo wants to pursue professional boxing career

According to his coach Andre Pederneiras, Aldo is training to pursue his dream to compete in a professional boxing ring. “If it was up to him (Aldo), he’d fight all of his UFC fights (left on the contract) in three months and go box. He wants to box professionally,” Pederneiras said.

Pederneiras told MMA Figthing (https://www.mmafighting.com/2017/8/30/16216862/coach-jose-aldo-wants-fight-out-of-ufc-contract-boxing) that Aldo wants to remain active.  Aldo’s team is waiting for the UFC to schedule a fight.

“We’re waiting for the UFC,” Pederneiras said. “We’re trying to get this fight done, against Cub Swanson or someone else. He wants to fight (against) someone well ranked, and wait for an opportunity to fight for the belt.”

Andre Berto wants to be a UFC Champion

Former boxing world champion Andre Berto wants to add UFC champion to his list of accomplishments. During a brief interview with TMZ (http://www.tmz.com/2017/08/29/andre-berto-join-ufc-dana-white/), Berto wanted a call from UFC President Dana White to fight in the UFC. “Dana White, you know me, you know my family’s been in MMA for a while,” Berto said. “I’m coming to the UFC so Dana White, call me! Tell Dana to call me. I’ll go to the UFC.”

Kim’s analysis: Although Berto boxed in the welterweight division (147 lbs.), he will have to change weight classes if he switches to MMA. If Berto fights in the UFC, he will most likely compete in Featherweight (145 lbs.) or Lightweight (155 lbs.) division.

Tony Ferguson vs. Kevin Lee to headline UFC 216

The UFC officially announced that the interim lightweight championship bout between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee will main event UFC 216. Ferguson is currently on a nine-fight win streak. Lee has won five in a row.

The co-main event at UFC 216 will be a heavyweight bout between Fabricio Werdum vs. Derrick Lewis.  Both fighters are looking to rebound from recent losses. Werdum lost to Alistair Overeem at UFC 213 and Lewis is coming off a TKO loss to Mark Hunt at UFC Fight Night 110.

Also featured at UFC 216 is the flyweight debut of Paige VanZant. She will face Jessica Eye.
