Holly Holm lost her third straight fight last night as Germaine de Randamie edged past her to win a razor thin decision victory and the inaugural Women’s Featherweight Title.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Holm reflected on the fight and took a moment to address Randamie continuing to throw shots at her after the round ended. “Well, yeah (it was intentional),” Holm said. “If it’s one shot after the bell after a combo, that’s an accident. But I still think I could have won the fight on my own.”

She also believes that given how close the fight was that an immediate rematch would be ideal. “I think it warrants a rematch,” Holm said. “When you have more than half the people saying the fight should have gone the other way, usually that warrants a rematch. So that would be awesome.”

Still, with this being her third straight loss Holm acknowledges she’s not in a position of power to make demands. “I’m sitting in a spot where my last three fights, I’m 0-3, so I’ll take whatever they’ll give me,” Holm said.

Holm has yet to indicate whether she will stay at Featherweight or return to Bantamweight.

Cervantes Analysis: It was unacceptable that the referee waited as long as he did to reprimand Randamie for throwing shots after the bell, as Holm was visibly shaken after taking a few of them in between rounds. However, Holm did acknowledge that she simply didn’t do enough to win and accepted the decision in spite of those illegal shots. Considering she lost her last two at Bantamweight and her first at Featherweight, it’s hard to believe this is the same fighter who derailed Ronda Rousey to become the Bantamweight Champion not so long ago.
