Alexa Grasso is one of the fighters UFC hopes boosts interest in their brand in Mexico, and tonight she has a chance to add to her profile in just her second UFC fight as she battles the more experienced Felice Herrig live in the co main event of FS1’s “UFC Fight Night” tonight.

“It’s important to show that we can be in the international leagues,” she said on FS1 “UFC Tonight” program. “I want to be in the top ten this year and show I’m one of the best in the world.”

Grasso expressed her specific strategy to improve her performance tonight. “I need to be more aggressive [against Herring],” she said. “I hope fans will see how hard I’m working. You can expect a very interesting fight.”

Grasso got interested in fighting when he uncle, who was a fighter, let her try one of his classes. She said after one lesson, she “fell in love with it.”

Analysis: Torch staff analyst and L.A. Times MMA blogger Todd Martin, on his weekly podcast “The Fix with Todd Martin,” said UFC is hoping Grasso does well and booked this fight with that in mind. “Alexa Grasso is one of the Mexico hopes along with Yair Rodriguez. Felice Herring is there to be an opponent for Alexa. She’s able to generate interest in her fights, but she’s not an upper echelon fighter. I think they’re hoping Alexa will be impressive as they have plans for her.”
