Who should UFC book against C.M. Punk for his likely second MMA fight?

Michael Grocke, MMATorch contributor

If the reports are correct, it appears C.M. Punk will get another chance to fight under the UFC banner. I might be in the minority, but I want to see Punk fight one more time. My choice for his second opponent would be Mike Jackson, the man who lost to Mickey Gall by submission in the first round at UFC Fight Night 82 and thus missed out on the Punk Sweepstakes in the process. Gall beat Jackson in 45 seconds by rear-naked choke. Gall beat Punk at 2:14 of round one by rear-naked choke. You see where I’m going with this. Pit the two men who have been tapped by Mickey Gall against each other; loser goes home… for good.

C.M. Punk should not get a second fight in the UFC. Period. Maybe a smaller promotion that’s already featured on Fight Pass, perhaps.

Frank Hyden, MMATorch columnist

If they decide to go forward with Punk, they should try to book him against someone who won’t embarrass him. So maybe someone with no fights to their name? Or someone who matches up poorly against Punk. To be honest, I have no idea who they could get. Probably some rookie or an over the hill fighter; that might work.

Michael Ecochard, MMATorch contributor

If C.M. Punk gets his wish of a second UFC bout then he needs to take an even bigger step down in an opponent. They could give him Michael Jackson, the fighter Mickey Gall beat in his first UFC match. Realistically, C.M. Punk could do fairly well in mixed martial arts, but he shouldn’t be in the UFC.
