Cris Cyborg dominated Lina Lansburg last night, finishing her via TKO in the second round.
In her post-fight interview Cyborg called for a fight with Ronda Rousey. “I want Ronda to come back,” she said. “I think she should show people even when you lose, it’s not the end of the world. You cannot give up.”

UFC has wanted to set up a fight between the two fighters for years and fans have been dreaming for it to become a reality, with Cyborg happy to oblige them. “Come back for your fans and let’s make the fight for all the fans, for women’s MMA,” she said. “I think everybody wants this fight and it would be amazing.”

UFC has not commented on a timeline for a fight between Rousey and Cyborg.
Cervantes Analysis: The UFC has a problem here because there is no way Cyborg can safely continue to make the brutal cut down to 135. It also cannot make an entire new division for Cyborg because there simply aren’t enough talented fighters to supply an entire new division at that weight. There have been arguments that fighters at 135 could just move up to featherweight, but that would then effectively drain the weight class of the top fighters. Rousey has also been a vocal critic of Cyborg in the past and has said Cyborg should have to cut to 135 to fight her at that weight. And with Rousey likely challenging for the title upon her return, who knows if and when this fight will happen.
