Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz II officially announced for UFC 202 on August 20

And it’s official: Conor McGregor-Nate Diaz II is set for UFC 202 on August 20.

The fight was officially announced during the UFC 199 broadcast, and the crowd went nuts when Diaz was shown in the crowd next to Dana White after a short video package (see below):

McGregor lost to Diaz in the short-notice welterweight main event at UFC 196, and, as Dana White has characterized, he’s been “obsessed” with avenging that loss since. The fight will now take place in Las Vegas at the end of August rather than at UFC 200.

Penick’s Analysis: Glad they got the deal done. They’re going to have another major pay-per-view draw outside of UFC 200 for the summer, McGregor can then turn around to defend the Featherweight Title against the Aldo-Edgar winner in the fall, preferably in New York, and this spring’s pissing contest can be put in the past.
