UFC 198 Undercard Results: Cris “Cyborg” Justino wins UFC debut, Brazilians score big wins in Curitiba

Cris “Cyborg” Justino made a successful UFC debut on Saturday night, taking out Leslie Smith in just over a minute at UFC 198. The TKO win came with only slight controversy, as Smith complained afterward of an early stoppage, but she had been knocked down quickly and Justino was raining down strikes when the referee stepped in.

The victory was one of eight for Brazilian fighters through the first ten bouts on the card, coming in front of 45,000 fans in Curitiba. The first of two Brazil vs. Brazil bouts going to a draw, and only Bryan Barberena came away victorious as a non-Brazilian competitor in his upset decision win over Warlley Alves.

In other action on the card, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua stole a decision from Corey Anderson on the strength of two knockdowns in the 15-minute bout, Demian Maia dominated Matt Brown to a late third round submission win, Thiago Santos took out Nate Marquardt in the first round, and John Lineker scored a one-sided decision over Rob Font. On the UFC Fight Pass prelims, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira took out Patrick Cummins in the first round, Renato Moicano edged past Zubaira Tukhugov, and Sergio Moraes and Luan Chagas fought to a split draw.
