With Miesha Tate wanting to fight by this summer, there had been some speculation that perhaps Ronda Rousey might just return early to face her. However, UFC President Dana White said this week the plan is still for Rousey to return by the end of the year.

“I just had dinner with her the other night. She’s in a great place mentally, physically, emotionally – every way you can be good, she’s good,” White said in an interview with TMZ. “She’s talking about coming back at the end of this year.

“She’ll either come back in November or December.”

Rousey has been out of action since losing the Women’s Bantamweight Championship to Holly Holm last November. Tate captured that title from Holm last month with a fifth round technical submission.

Penick’s Analysis: I think we’re likely to see a Tate-Holm rematch this summer, whether at UFC 200 or on another event. It makes the most sense, and is the least risky for the UFC because either way there’s a big money fight for Rousey’s return whether in November or December. I would have to imagine the UFC is targeting Rousey for whenever they can get into Madison Square Garden in New York City, so the timing probably just comes down to when they can book a date there.
