UFC 196 “McGregor vs. Diaz” prelims draw 1.843 million viewers to Fox Sports 1

The two-hour preliminary card for Saturday’s UFC 196 broadcast on Fox Sports 1 drew quite well, with Sports TV Ratings reporting that 1.843 million average viewers tuned in prior to the pay-per-view main card.

That number is up significantly from January’s UFC 195 prelims, which edged past the one million average viewer mark, while right in line with the stellar 1.931 million tuning in for UFC 194’s prelims in December.

Saturday’s FS1 broadcast was topped by the welterweight bout between Siyar Bahadurzada and Brandon Thatch. Though the numbers aren’t always indicative of pay-per-view success – the highly successful UFC 189 card drew under a million, after all – viewership as strong as this does tend to come along with heavy interest for the pay-per-view event itself. Estimates on the pay-per-view performance are likely to come out in the next couple of weeks.
