In her first significant public appearance since UFC 193, Ronda Rousey briefly addressed her loss to Holly Holm during her opening monologue on Saturday Night Live.

The brief comment was Rousey’s first public expression of congratulations to the woman who knocked her out and took her title.

“This is the first time I’m talking to my fans since I lost to Holly Holm in November, which, by the way, was a fight Holly deserved to win,” Rousey said. “And I just wanted to take a minute to sincerely congratulate her.”

Rousey then shifted to the show, which saw her used sparingly in what was a serviceable appearance as host.

Penick’s Analysis: It wasn’t the best episode of the show, it wasn’t the worst. Rousey did her job as host well enough, and they didn’t ask her to do a whole lot, so it wasn’t a spot where she massively embarrassed herself or anything, and she seemed to have fun with it.
