Bellator Champ Will Brooks says Pitbull brothers “jumped” him in unprovoked “sucker punch” assault

Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks has kept a heated rivalry up with the Pitbull brothers, Featherweight Champ Patricio and lightweight Patricky Freire, and it took a dark turn on Wednesday in St. Louis prior to Friday’s Bellator 145 event.

Both Brooks and Patricio defend their belts on Friday’s Bellator 145 card, and Brooks said on Wednesday that the two brothers “jumped” him and “sucker punched” him while he was on the phone with his mother.

Penick’s Analysis: If this indeed happened today, then the Freire brothers should be arrested for assault, and action should be taken against Patricio as Bellator Champ. This is just far beyond the realm of acceptable. They’re paid to fight in the cage; assaulting someone out of nowhere outside of the confines of the sport itself is, to put it simply, criminal. It’s a criminal act. There’s no place for pro fighters to be assaulting people out of the cage. It just can’t happen. This is disgusting on their part, and hopefully they haven’t cost Brooks his payday for Friday by causing him any injury that takes him out of his fight.
