The UFC is bringing more welterweight action to their January schedule, announcing on Friday that Patrick Cote will meet Ben Saunders at UFC Fight Night 81 in Boston on January 17.

Cote, a one-time title challenger in the middleweight division, has put together a 4-1 run since dropping to welterweight in 2013. His sole loss came by decision to Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, and he’s since won back to back fights, stopping Josh Burkman in the third round in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 74 in August.

Saunders returned to the UFC last summer after a lengthy stint in Bellator MMA, and has won three straight fights since coming back to the Octagon. After an omoplata victory over Chris Heatherly and an injury finish against Joe Riggs, Saunders added a decision win over Kenny Robertson in July.

UFC Fight Night 81 airs live on Fox Sports 1 from the TD Garden, headlined by the UFC Bantamweight Championship bout between T.J. Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz.
